Geeks logo
I used Adobe Streamline to turn the original (black and white) pen and ink sketch into vector art, and then Macromedia FreeHand was used to complete the logo.
Geeks, as a name and a graphic, came about as a local amateur paintball team desired a catchy name and logo -- specifically a visual presence which reflected their unconventional, devil-may-care personalities. The "Geeks" name was chosen to reflect a combination of this off-beat attitude and the computer-related background which all the members shared. The motto around the top, "We bite'm heads offa you chicken," is a reference to the actual etymology of the word "Geeks." (A carnival sideshow performer who would bite the heads off chickens for the entertainment of onlookers.)
The geek and chicken characters were originally hand-drawn in black & white, then scanned into the computer using an HP ScanJet IIc scanner. This scan was then converted into a vector-based computer drawing, using Adobe Streamline, and modified in Macromedia FreeHand. The characters were then placed in front of a multi-colored, semi-circular, background. The "Geeks" team name was placed underneath, and the motto wrapped around the top of the semi-circle background.
