Cougar Eyes

This pen and ink image was inspired by a photo which I saw in Outdoor Photographer, a photographic magazine specializing in scenic, wildlife, and sports photography. It was first penciled onto a 9" x 12" piece of white bristol board. Although the original photograph was in full color, my version is a "high contrast" black and white rendition.

I inked the image with a Windsor Newton series 7 sable-haired brush using FW Black India Ink, what they call Acrylic Artists Ink. As I performed the brushwork I continued to keep in mind the black and white nature of the final piece.

Finally, the image was scanned into the computer using an HP ScanJet IIc scanner.
