In case you haven't heard yet, Zuda went live late yesterday. They launched with one 17-strip instant winner (Bayou) and eight 8-strip competitors (Alpha Monkey, Battlefield Babysitter, Black Swan, Dead in the Now, High Moon, Leprenomicon, Raining Cats and Dogs, The Dead Seas, The Enders, and This American Strife).

Wow, Just read the lot of them. Not impressed. I really thought they would be better quality. I think the artwork is pretty good on the majority of them. The writing is weak though.
My favorite of the bunch has to be High Moon though. Head and shoulders above the rest as a total packages. Besides. Western? Werewolves? Hell yeah!

I like the art on half of them--the other half is fine, but it's not art I normally gravitate to. But I expected that, and it's okay.
I agree with you that the writing is weak on a bunch of them, especially in that each is only eight strips (4 pages) long. I would prefer that each submission have some sort of "start" and "finish," but many of this first set didn't even strike me as great starts to longer products. I'd almost say one or two weren't even great marketing pitches.
Still, I don't want to be too harsh on the whole thing. It's a fair start and I'm interested in seeing how things progress. I wish good luck to all the submissions.
