My buddy Joey came to visit for about five days. He met Susan again, as well as Tom, Jon, Amy, and the other people I hang out with. You can see a handful of snapshots from his trip here.
Here's a quick rundown of Joey's trip:
- Joey started on Long Island, New York, and drove to the Florida Keys, where he stayed for a couple of days. Then he was on to New Orleans, LA, where he stayed another day or so. He arrived in Austin early Friday evening. We took him to see a Mr. Sinus Theater show at the downtown Alamo Drafthouse, where they mocked The Karate Kid.
- On Saturday, Susan took the three of us on a Geocache hunt. We found the first cache, but the second eluded us to our extreme frustration. (Turns out we had one of the coordinates wrong on the second one.)
- Sunday was Daniel's birthday party, where Joey got to meet some of the people I've been talking about for years and he's recently started playing City of Heroes with. We went to a local Tex-Mex eatery afterwards, and he got to snack on some barbecue from Rudy's later on while he, Susan, and I played Trivial Pursuit on the Xbox.
- Susan treated Joey to a tour of the local NCsoft office building, where they make and publish massively-multiplayer online games, then went and had lunch together. We went to a cajun place for dinner.
- Things slowed down a bit on Tuesday. We left the apartment late in the day, first going to the mall for a bit, then went to the Congress Avenue bridge at sundown to watch the daily flight of the bats.
Generous helpings of City of Heroes playtime were scattered throughout every day as we levelled Joey's character from 17 to 21.
